Up here in good old Minnesota, we’re in our THIRD polar vortex. And I’m not here to talk about the weather, but maybe to get a little sympathy. ;) I swear, I’m about ready to drive south on 35 and see what happens. But if I wait patiently enough, we’ll be heading down to New Orleans shortly. Thanks for all your tips about things to see / do there, by the way! I truly appreciate it. But back to today! I’ve curated a little cluster of items I’ve been lusting after, all of which remind me of warmth : both in the literal sense, but also in appearance + tone, too. I’m ready to get warm over here! Please?
It’s been SUCH a long time since I’ve curated a wantlist to share with you all, but this time around … I had the perfect cause. Last weekend, two of my best friends stayed over at our new home and I realized quickly beforehand that I hadn’t put any effort into making that room cozy. Needless to say, I didn’t have much time to commit to anything before their arrival other than a white duvet cover and a yellow pillow. The rest of the room is so bare it hurts. At least they didn’t complain – thanks guys!! So now that we’ve been moving through rooms and decorating, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to make our guest room have SOME sort of life. As you can see from the picks above, I have my eye on yellows + neutrals and lots of cozy details. The walls are a medium / warm grey, so all of this should pop nicely. You can shop all of it ( I know I will be!! ) below.
As we prepare ourselves for winter ( ya, it’s coming!! ) in the upper midwest, I can’t help but long for layers and blankets and candles and everything that is warm. For as long as I can remember, I’ve never truly looked forward to the cold temperatures + snowy nights. It was just one of those things that I became accustomed to here in Minnesota, year after year. But somehow, everything feels different this year. For example, one week BEFORE halloween, I found myself in the Christmas garland section in Michael’s and got all sorts of happy. It was weird. And early. But I’m ready. Hello sweaters and evenings by the fire. I’m fully prepared to wrap myself in endless blankets and eat all of the warm things in sight.
Yesterday, I wasn’t feeling too great – so I quit work early to get some rest and watch a whole lotta tv. Just what the doctor ordered, right?? My long afternoon on the couch ( with chips & salsa ) gave me the idea to base a curated wantlist post on a movie night in! Because let’s face it, now is the best time to watch Hocus Pocus and get all cozy indoors. You know, pop some popcorn, dim the lights, wrap yourself up in a blanket ( or five ), and perhaps drink some hard cider. Man, that’s sounding so good right now. Good thing it’s Friday! Do you guys have any favorite flicks you like to watch this time of year? I’m dying to see something new …
The weather in Minnesota is certainly weird. Bi-polar, in fact. Earlier this week, I was all bundled up for fall like temperatures, but today … it’s pushing 90. Hot hot heat. Despite our little September heatwave, I’m perfectly aware of how close the cold weather actually is. So until then, we’ll definitely be taking advantage of our comfortable evenings off work. Michael and I have been doing a lot of yard work lately, but I’ve also been dying to take a walk ( or bike ) the beach near our house for a little picnic!! I put together some items above that I’d love to bring with for said date. Here’s to hoping we have enough beautiful weather left!
